We have recently developed a completely new version of the recognition algorithm, which is based solely on the neural networks and novel findings in the AI area. It shows even better detection results and performance, especially in poor lighting conditions and/or inconvenient painting colors. Detection on iphoneX for 4k picture takes only about 5 sec and finds 95+% of all dents. Algorythm is able to find even small and barely visible dents, it supports different sizes and proportions of the dents. Also, all types of dent mirrors are supported with different bands steps and orientation.
We are happy to present the newly developed first version of a web service that uses our neural network module and allows integration of the recognition process with the existing systems from smart repair bodyshops networks to insurance companies with minimal effort. In a simplistic integration case, the service can receive images of damaged parts and as an output generate JSON with hail dents coordinates and their properties, such as size, detection confidence, etc. It also can detect windscreen washer nozzles and logos (and much more), so that they are not mixed up with dents. That technology can also allow finding not only hail dents but also other types of small damages, including glass cracks with using additional training models.
